When does the auxiliary heat turn on in a Honeywell heat pump?

Your auxiliary heat should only turn on when your heat pump is no longer capable of drawing in heat from outside efficiently. Most Honeywell units will kick on the auxiliary heat when the following is true: The temperature outside is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
