GFCI breaker is mandatory for pool heat pumps as well as any electrical devices related to swimming pools such as pool pumps, underwater lights, etc. Any power outlet within 20 feet of the pool must have GFCI protection. GFCI breaker detects anomalies in the electricity flow and shuts down current flow immediately.
